Jay Street Slouch

I named this hat pattern the Jay Street Slouch as the inspiration for this hat came as I was standing on the Jay St-Borough Hall platform (in NYC) waiting for the F train.

Skill Level: Intermediate or adventurous beginner

Sizes: Woman’s Small/Medium (up to approx. 20” head circumference), Woman’s Medium/Large (up to approx 23”). Directions are written for size S/M with changes for size M/L in parentheses

Gauge: 16 stitches and 23 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch, unblocked over larger needles

Materials:

  • Size 5.5mm (US 9) and size 5mm (US 8 ) circular or double pointed needles or size to obtain gauge
  • Cable needle
  • Approx. 12-13 stitch markers (optional)
  • Tapestry needle

Yarn: approx. 150-200 yards of worsted weight yarn.
