This snood/cowl is knit using the Lingonberry pattern (pohlamarjakiri) from Haapsalu Ratik, New York 1972 (republished in Nancy Bush’s Knitted Lace of Estonia). Paluk is a common name for Lingonberry in Estonia. This pattern can be easily modified for any weight yarn as it is worked over a multiple of 10 stitches.

Skill Level: Intermediate or adventurous beginner

Skills needed: Ability to knit in the round. YOs, SSK, K2tog

Gauge: 5 sts per inch in stockinette stitch (unblocked)

Yarn: approx. 2 skeins of DK weight yarn.The lace pattern is both written out and charted.

Materials:

  • Size 4.5mm (US 7) circular or double pointed needles or size to obtain gauge
  • Stitch marker (optional)
  • Tapestry needle
